Nuclear Sites In Iran: Some Localized Radioactive Release 

As per agency’s assessment, there has been some localized radioactive release inside the affected facilities that contained nuclear material mainly enriched uranium. However, there is no increase in off-site radiation levels.  

The latest update by IAEA on impact of the strikes on Iranian nuclear sites at Arak, Esfahan, Fordow and Natanz following a 12-day military conflict notes extensive damages at nuclear sites, including to its uranium conversion and enrichment facilities.  

As per agency’s assessment, there has been some localized radioactive release inside the affected facilities that contained nuclear material mainly enriched uranium. However, there is no increase in off-site radiation levels.  

Based on available data, IAEA has assured that there has been no radiological impact to the population and the environment in neighbouring countries.  

IAEA inspectors are in Iran are ready to go back to the sites and to verify the inventories of nuclear material including more than 400 kg of uranium enriched to 60%.
