A Nebula that Looks Like a Monster

nebula is a star-forming, massive region of interstellar cloud of dust in the galaxy. Looking like a monster, this is image of a massive nebula in our home galaxy Milky Way.

The image was captured by NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope.

These types of regions cannot be observed in visible light as the visible light cannot penetrate the dust cloud but the infrared can penetrate the cloud hence can be observed by infrared light.

This monster-like nebula is situated in the constellation Sagittarius, along the plane of the Milky Way, which was part of Spitzer’s GLIMPSE Survey (short for Galactic Legacy Infrared Mid-Plane Survey Extraordinaire).
